Possibly one of the most nerve racking experiences for both parties involved!
The saying goes "You don’t get a second chance at making a first impression" remember that along with these helpful hints and tips and you can’t go wrong. Just remember ACDC..... No we don’t mean the band (unless of course it helps) or the way they used to dress either.
Activity - Dress for the activity you've chosen to do. It’s no good wearing a three piece suit to a casual meet down the local pub. Think about what the day or night will bring.
Comfort - Be comfortable, the last thing your date will want to see is you constantly adjusting your top or pulling up your jeans. (If a belt fails, braces make a very stylish alternative) This does come with a warning however gents, comfortable does not mean baggy. Fitted is the best way forward, if your clothes fit properly you will feel more stylish and confident.
Decision - When it comes to your appearance on your first date, that jokey slogan top probably is not going to impress. If needs be make the decision to get a more respectable version or leave it at home.
Care - Take care in your appearance, you've got the clothing sorted (providing they are clean and ironed!) so think about the little details, Wearing shoes? Polish them. Think about your hair, do you need to make an emergency trip to the barber? Are you usually clean shaven, have some stubble or have a fully fledged beard? Regardless make sure that you are groomed.
A final note on care, despite what some men’s magazines and adverts will have you believe there is no magic scent that will leave your date weak at the knees (Chocolate & Wine are the closest we've found). Unless you have used too much, in which case she probably needs air, so go sparingly on the aftershave.
The last and most important piece of advice we can give you gentlemen is to simply be yourself! Everything
will be alright on the night.
